Terms of Service
Knit and Compute, LLC
Effective Date: September 26, 2026
Last Updated: September 26, 2026
1. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Knit and Compute, LLC, a New York limited liability company (“Colorwork Studio”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). They govern your use of the Colorwork Studio website, applications, software, rendering tools, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).
By clicking “I Agree,” selecting an acceptance checkbox, creating an account, purchasing a subscription, or accessing or using the Service, you represent that you have read and agree to these Terms. You also acknowledge that you have reviewed our Privacy Policy, which explains our information practices. If you do not agree, do not create an account, purchase a subscription (if applicable), or use the Service.
1.1 Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised Terms, update the “Last Updated” date, and provide additional notice of material changes through the Service, by email, or as otherwise required by law. Unless a later date is stated, revised Terms become effective when posted and apply prospectively. Material changes to Section 16 will not apply to a dispute for which either party provided written notice before the change became effective. If you do not agree to revised Terms, you must stop using the Service and cancel your subscription. Your continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by law.
2. THE SERVICE
Colorwork Studio provides tools for creating, storing, rendering, displaying, and sharing yarn colorwork charts and related pattern information.
We may modify, update, improve, suspend, or discontinue any feature, functionality, or other aspect of the Service from time to time, including to address business, legal, security, technical, or operational needs. We do not guarantee that any particular feature or functionality will remain available or unchanged. Where reasonably practicable, we will provide advance notice of any material change that significantly reduces the core functionality of the Service.
We may also migrate, reorganize, or otherwise modify accounts, User Content, and other data as reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, secure, update, or improve the Service. Although we will use commercially reasonable efforts to preserve User Content, users are responsible for maintaining independent copies of any User Content important to them.
3. ELIGIBILITY
You must be at least eighteen (18) years old to use the Service.
The Service is not intended for individuals under eighteen (18), and individuals under eighteen may not create an account or use the Service. If we learn that an account belongs to a person under eighteen, we may suspend or terminate the account and delete the associated personal information, subject to applicable law.
You may not access or use the Service from any jurisdiction in which access to or use of the Service would violate applicable law. We may restrict the availability of the Service in any jurisdiction at any time where reasonably necessary for legal, regulatory, security, or operational reasons.
You represent and warrant that you are not prohibited from using the Service under applicable law and that all registration and billing information you provide is accurate, current, and complete.
4. ACCOUNTS, SECURITY, AND COMMUNICATIONS
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for activity conducted through it. You may not share, sell, or transfer your account or use multiple accounts to evade limits or enforcement.
You consent to receive agreements, disclosures, notices, receipts, and other communications from Colorwork Studio electronically, including by email, in-app message, or posting within the Service. You are responsible for maintaining a valid email address and the hardware and software needed to access electronic records. You may retain copies of these communications by printing or saving them. If you withdraw consent to electronic communications where withdrawal is available, we may be unable to provide the Service and may close your account after providing any notice required by law.
4.1 Paid Subscriptions
We may offer paid subscriptions or other paid features. The price, billing frequency, subscription period, included features, and other material terms will be disclosed to you before you complete your purchase. Prices do not include applicable taxes unless expressly stated otherwise.
If you purchase an automatically renewing subscription, you authorize us or our payment processor to charge the applicable subscription fees and taxes to your selected payment method at the beginning of each billing period until you cancel. Your subscription will automatically renew for successive periods of the same duration unless otherwise disclosed at the time of purchase or unless you cancel before the applicable renewal date.
You may cancel your subscription through the account settings or other cancellation method we make available. Unless otherwise stated or required by applicable law, cancellation will take effect at the end of the then-current paid subscription period, and you will retain access to the applicable paid features until that time. Fees already paid are nonrefundable except as expressly stated in these Terms or required by applicable law.
We may change subscription prices or features from time to time. Any price increase will apply no earlier than your next renewal following the notice required by applicable law. If you do not agree to the change, you may cancel your subscription before the change takes effect.
Payments may be processed by a third-party payment provider and may be subject to that provider’s terms and privacy policy. We may suspend or restrict access to paid features if a payment is declined, reversed, disputed, or otherwise not received.
5. OWNERSHIP, LICENSE, AND USER CONTENT
5.1 Colorwork Materials
Colorwork Studio and its licensors retain all rights in the Service and its yarn photographs, image library, datasets, software, rendering systems, templates, branding, and other materials.
5.2 User Content
“User Content” means charts, pattern data, titles, descriptions, yarn selections, images, files, and other material you create, upload, store, or publish through the Service.
You retain any copyright and other ownership rights you have in your User Content. These Terms do not transfer ownership of your User Content to us.
You are responsible for your User Content. You represent that you own it or have the rights needed to upload it and permit us to use it as described in these Terms.
You retain your rights in your User Content.
5.3 License
You grant Colorwork Studio a worldwide, nonexclusive, royalty-free license, with the right to permit our contractors and service providers to exercise these rights as reasonably necessary to:
-
provide, operate, secure, maintain, and support the Service;
-
generate previews, renderings, and exports;
-
implement the visibility and sharing settings you select;
-
display, reproduce, and distribute User Content you designate as public through the Service, including in public profiles, search results, community galleries, featured-content sections (including patterns Colorwork Studio selects to feature and patterns other users favorite most), and other public areas of the Service;
-
if you separately authorize promotional use, reproduce, display, distribute, crop, resize, reformat, and otherwise adapt your public User Content, together with your username and associated attribution information, to demonstrate and promote the Service through our websites, email newsletters, social-media accounts, presentations, advertisements, and other promotional channels, without compensation to you;
-
on-Service placements, such as featured-pattern or top-favorited sections, are public-visibility uses under the bullet above and do not require separate promotional-use authorization;
-
prevent abuse and enforce these Terms; and
-
comply with legal obligations.
This license does not give us ownership of your User Content or permit us to sell your patterns as our own.
The license continues while your User Content remains on the Service. After deletion, copies may remain temporarily in backups, security records, legal records, cached materials, or materials previously published or distributed.
Designating User Content as public authorizes us to display that User Content in public areas of the Service, including the community gallery, but does not by itself authorize us to use it in off-Service promotional materials. Where we request permission to use User Content for promotional purposes, you may grant or decline that permission through the account setting, submission form, or other mechanism we provide. This promotional-use permission is a separate, affirmative opt-in: it is off by default, is never preselected, and is not implied by designating User Content as public. You may withdraw that permission prospectively at any time through the functionality we make available or by contacting us at legal@colorwork.studio. Withdrawal will not require us to recall newsletters, publications, or other materials distributed before the withdrawal became effective, but we will use reasonable efforts to discontinue new promotional uses within a reasonable period.
5.4 Copying and Remixing
If you set your public User Content to allow copying, you grant other users of the Service a worldwide, nonexclusive, royalty-free license to copy that User Content through the Service and to modify the copy — including colors, yarn selections, and other pattern data — to create their own derivative pattern (a "Remix"), for personal, non-commercial, and other lawful use consistent with these Terms.
A Remix is User Content belonging to the user who created it, and that user is responsible for it as described in Section 5.2. Colorwork Studio will associate a Remix with the original pattern and the original creator's username through Service functionality (such as a "remixed from" or source attribution), separately from the Remix creator's own attribution for their modifications.
Making your public User Content available for copying does not transfer your ownership of it, and does not by itself authorize promotional use of your pattern or of any Remix based on it. A separate promotional-use authorization from the Remix creator is required before Colorwork Studio may use a Remix for promotional purposes, regardless of whether you have authorized promotional use of your original pattern.
You may change your copying setting or delete your public User Content at any time. Doing so will disable new copies going forward but will not require us or other users to remove or stop using copies or Remixes already made.
6. RENDERINGS AND COLORWORK STUDIO MATERIALS
Renderings and exports may combine your User Content with yarn photographs, yarn information, formatting, software, templates, and other materials owned by Colorwork Studio or its licensors.
You may use renderings and exports created through your account in connection with your own patterns, knitting projects, portfolio, publications, marketing, and authorized commercial activities.
6.1 Third-Party Products and Affiliate Links
The Service may contain links to yarn, supplies, or other products offered by third-party merchants. Some links may be affiliate or paid links, which means that Colorwork Studio may receive a commission or other compensation if you make a purchase through the link, at no additional cost to you.
Third-party products are sold and fulfilled by the applicable merchant, not Colorwork Studio. We do not control and are not responsible for the availability, description, pricing, quality, safety, delivery, returns, warranties, or other terms applicable to third-party products. Your purchase is subject to the merchant’s terms and privacy practices. A link or reference to a product does not constitute a warranty or guarantee by Colorwork Studio.
7. FEEDBACK
If you provide Colorwork Studio with suggestions, ideas, bug reports, comments, feature requests, recommendations, or other feedback concerning the Service (“Feedback”), you grant Colorwork Studio a perpetual, worldwide, irrevocable, royalty-free, fully paid, sublicensable, and transferable license to use, reproduce, modify, create derivative works from, distribute, display, perform, and otherwise utilize the Feedback for any purpose, including to develop, improve, and promote the Service and other Colorwork Studio products and services, without compensation or attribution to you.
You represent that you have the right to provide the Feedback to Colorwork Studio and that Colorwork Studio's use of the Feedback as permitted above will not violate any third-party rights.
Feedback does not include your User Content, and nothing in this Section transfers ownership of your User Content to Colorwork Studio.
8. ACCEPTABLE USE
You may use the Service only for its intended purpose of creating, documenting, rendering, displaying, or sharing yarn colorwork charts and related pattern information.
The Service is not a general-purpose file-storage, image-hosting, or data-hosting service. You may not use it primarily to store or distribute material unrelated to yarn charts or patterns.
You may not:
-
upload or use content that is unlawful, infringing, fraudulent, deceptive, malicious, or harmful;
-
upload another person's pattern, chart, image, or other work without permission or another lawful basis;
-
scrape, crawl, harvest, download, or systematically extract yarn photographs, pattern data, user information, or other Service content;
-
copy, redistribute, sell, or build a dataset from Colorwork Studio's yarn photographs or related data;
-
reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code or internal operation of the Service, except where applicable law expressly permits it;
-
bypass access controls, account limits, rate limits, visibility settings, or other technical restrictions;
-
use bots, scripts, or automated systems;
-
probe or interfere with the security, availability, or operation of the Service;
-
introduce malware or harmful code;
-
use the Service or its materials to create or improve a competing yarn-image library, rendering service, or substantially similar product;
-
use Service content to train or improve a machine-learning model;
-
impersonate another person or misrepresent authorship, ownership, permission, or affiliation; or
-
assist anyone in doing any of these things.
9. CONTENT REMOVAL AND TERMINATION
We may review, restrict, remove, or disable access to content that we reasonably believe violates these Terms, infringes another person's rights, violates the law, or creates a legal, security, or operational risk.
9.1 Termination by You
You may stop using the Service at any time. You may delete your account using the options provided through the Service.
You are responsible for maintaining independent copies of content important to you. We do not guarantee that deleted or lost content can be recovered.
9.2 Suspension/Termination by Colorwork
We may restrict, suspend, or terminate an account for violations of these Terms, unlawful activity, security risks, or misuse of the Service. We may terminate accounts of repeat copyright infringers where appropriate.
9.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination or suspension of your account, you must stop using the Service. Unless we terminate or suspend your account because of your violation of these Terms, we will use reasonable efforts to provide you a reasonable opportunity to export your User Content using functionality we make available before your access ends. If your account is terminated or suspended because of a violation of these Terms, we may immediately restrict or terminate your access to the Service and may delete or disable access to User Content associated with the account, subject to applicable law. We are not responsible for preserving User Content after termination. Sections concerning User Content licenses, Feedback, confidentiality, indemnification, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and other provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive termination.
10. COPYRIGHT AND DMCA POLICY
We respect intellectual property rights and respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

We may restore the content in 10–14 business days unless the copyright owner files a court action.
Repeat Infringers
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts of users who repeatedly infringe intellectual property rights.
11. COLOR AND PATTERN DISCLAIMERS
Colorwork Studio provides digital approximations of physical yarn. We do not guarantee that a rendering will exactly match physical yarn or a finished knitted item.
Results may vary because of display calibration, ambient lighting, photography, dye lots, yarn texture, manufacturing changes, and differences between digital rendering and physical materials.
We do not verify user-created patterns, stitch counts, sizing, gauge, yarn quantities, construction information, or other User Content. You are responsible for evaluating yarn and pattern information before purchasing materials, publishing a pattern, or beginning a project.
12. PRIVACY, SECURITY, AND SERVICE AVAILABILITY
We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, accurate, or permanently available, or that User Content will be preserved or recoverable.
Our Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information. It is available through the Service and our website. You must not provide information about another person unless you are authorized to do so.
We may change, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Service for business, legal, security, technical, or operational reasons. Where reasonably practicable, we will provide advance notice of a material discontinuation. If we permanently discontinue a paid Service (if applicable) before the end of a prepaid period for reasons other than your breach, we will provide a pro rata refund for the unused period or a substantially equivalent alternative.
13. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available.”
We disclaim all warranties that may legally be disclaimed, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and noninfringement.
14. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Colorwork Studio and its members, employees, contractors, licensors, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, materials, labor, or business opportunities arising from or relating to the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the aggregate liability of Colorwork Studio and its members, employees, contractors, licensors, and service providers arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will not exceed $100.
The limitations in this Section do not apply to liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
15. INDEMNIFICATION
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Colorwork Studio and its members, officers, directors, employees, contractors, licensors, service providers, and agents from and against any third-party claims, demands, actions, proceedings, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees and costs) arising out of or relating to:
-
your User Content, including any allegation that your User Content infringes, misappropriates, or otherwise violates a third party's intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights;
-
your violation of these Terms or applicable law; or
-
your misuse of the Service.
Colorwork Studio will provide you with reasonably prompt notice of any claim for which it seeks indemnification, provided that a failure to give prompt notice will not relieve you of your obligations except to the extent you are materially prejudiced by the delay. Colorwork Studio may participate in the defense of any indemnified claim with counsel of its choice at its own expense. You may not settle any claim in a manner that imposes any admission of liability, obligation, restriction, or other material requirement on Colorwork Studio without Colorwork Studio's prior written consent.
This Section does not require you to indemnify Colorwork Studio for claims to the extent caused by Colorwork Studio's own gross negligence, willful misconduct, or violation of applicable law.
16. DISPUTE RESOLUTION
Except as provided in this Section, you and Colorwork Studio agree to resolve any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service through binding arbitration rather than in court, as described below.
16.1 Agreement to Arbitrate
You and Colorwork Studio agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by binding arbitration administered by JAMS under its Streamlined Arbitration Rules and Procedures then in effect (or, for claims exceeding $250,000, its Comprehensive Arbitration Rules and Procedures), except as set forth in this Section. The JAMS rules are available at www.jamsadr.com.
16.2 Class Action Waiver
Arbitration will be conducted on an individual basis only. Neither you nor Colorwork Studio may bring a claim as a plaintiff or class member in a class, consolidated, or representative action, and the arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims or preside over any form of class or representative proceeding. If this waiver is found unenforceable as to a particular claim or request for relief, that claim or request must be brought in court, and all other claims remain subject to arbitration.
16.3 Arbitration Procedures
The arbitration will be conducted by a single arbitrator and, unless the parties agree otherwise, will be held in Albany County, New York, or conducted by telephone, videoconference, or written submissions as permitted under JAMS rules. Payment of filing, administration, and arbitrator fees will be governed by JAMS rules, including any JAMS consumer fee protections applicable to the arbitration. The arbitrator's award may be entered as a judgment in any court of competent jurisdiction.
16.4 Exceptions
Notwithstanding the foregoing, either party may bring an individual action in small claims court, and either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in court to prevent actual or threatened infringement, misappropriation, or violation of its intellectual property or confidentiality rights.
16.5 Governing Law
This Section is governed by the Federal Arbitration Act. To the extent a dispute is not subject to arbitration under this Section, these Terms are governed by New York law, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Notwithstanding the foregoing, nothing in these Terms deprives you of any mandatory consumer protection right or remedy available under the laws of your country of residence that cannot lawfully be waived. To the extent applicable law permits you to bring a dispute in the courts of your country of residence notwithstanding this Section, you may do so.
17. GENERAL TERMS
17.1 Notices
We may provide notices by email, in-app message, posting within the Service, or another method reasonably designed to reach you. Notices to Colorwork Studio must be sent to legal@colorwork.studio and, where these Terms require mailed notice, to the address in Section 18. Notice is effective when sent or posted unless applicable law requires otherwise.
17.2 Assignment
You may not assign your account or these Terms without our permission. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, financing, reorganization, sale, or transfer of the Service.
17.3 Force Majeure
Colorwork Studio is not liable for delay or failure caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including natural disasters, utility or telecommunications failures, internet disruptions, labor disputes, civil unrest, war, terrorism, government action, epidemics, cyberattacks, or third-party service failures, except that this Section does not excuse obligations that cannot lawfully be excused.
17.4 Severability and Waiver
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
17.5 Entire Agreement
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Colorwork Studio concerning your use of the Service and supersede any prior or contemporaneous agreements concerning the same subject matter. Our Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and otherwise process personal information in connection with the Service.
17.6 No Third-Party Beneficiaries; Relationship
Except for the Colorwork Studio parties protected under Sections 14 and 15, these Terms create no third-party beneficiary rights. The parties are independent contractors. These Terms do not create a partnership, joint venture, agency, fiduciary, employment, or franchise relationship.
17.7 Headings and Interpretation
Headings are for convenience only. “Including” means “including without limitation.” These Terms will not be construed against either party as drafter. An electronic acceptance has the same effect as a handwritten signature.
